ScoreHealth Supports $400,000 Annual Health Cost Reduction
NEWS RELEASE: $400,000 Annual Health Cost Savings Using ScoreHealth
Franklin Community Health Network reduced its employee health costs by some $400,000 between 2009 and 2010, according to a study by health benefits administrator Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.
The study indicated that Franklin Community Health Network (FCHN), a nonprofit network of rural healthcare providers including Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, cut its employee health costs by some 20 percent.
"This is a wonderful result, and we applaud Franklin Community Health Network for its continued leadership in health and wellness, including the use of the advanced wellness support system, ScoreHealth," said Vincent Capozzi, Senior Vice President of Sales and Customer Service for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.
ScoreHealth is a digital health record component of the Franklin Health Model, a long-term public health initiative developed under the leadership of internal medicine specialist Burgess Record, M.D. Record is presently Medical Director of ScoreHealth.
Unique to the Harvard Pilgrim study was its Value of Wellness(VOW) methodology based on peer-reviewed studies from leading academic researchers in health promotion, productivity management, outcomes and econometrics.
The VOW analytical tool allows Harvard Pilgrim and its clients to model the impact of various factors – including, body weight, blood pressure, smoking and stress level – and their impact on health costs. The risk factors in a population are measured through a confidential health questionnaire and available biometric data. Responses are tracked overtime, allowing researchers to measure and report on changes in the risk profile of an employer’s population and the financial impact of such changes.
“ScoreHealth together with the Franklin Health Model that includes an employee wellness team have produced a significant cost reduction and better health for employees,” said Franklin Memorial Hospital Executive Vice President Jerry Cayer. “These factors have made all the difference.”
